And here one of my illustrations for the bookproject. The illustration shows the famous King of France Ludwig XIV. the "sunking". I took this painting as a reference, but changed how Ludwig stands and put a sun on the curtain.

This illustration is done in watercolors, too.

Yes, I remember this famous masterpiece in the Louvre Museum, painted by Rigaud : Louis Dieudonné of the Bourbon dynasty, mostly known as Louis XIV. His court compared him as the Sun, for the splendor and magnificence of his reign. He is the most reknown king of France.

I see that you added some personal details that were not in the original (the sun-good idea), and your interpretation is a mirror image (the king on the original piece is facing left).

Nice work!;-)

Thanks a lot for your comment. Yes, I decided to make some changes in the position of Louis, because it made no sense to me to copy Rigaud's painting 1:1. But in the main parts (the robe of Louis, the crown, the shoes) I took the painting as reference, because it is in my opinion the bestknown picture of Loui XIV.

Dankeschön, und schön, wieder von dir zu lesen. Ja, ich habe das Originalgemälde als Vorlage genommen, weil es meiner Ansicht nach, das bekannteste Ludwig-Gemälde ist.

Already as I only saw the little version of this one in your gallery I realized that it has to be Ludwig the 14th. I also knew your preferences-pic. It was imprinted in my book of the subject history. But even if I didn't I'm sure I was able to identify him. ;D

I wonder how much animels had to die for this giant cape >.<.
